About Us
Explore the Art of Rug Hooking
The Painted Mermaid Studio welcomes you to
learn to create beautiful hand-hooked heirloom rugs or smaller projects you and your loved ones will enjoy for a lifetime! Artist and owner Brenda Ellis Sauro instructs the classes in beginner rug hooking, fine shading, animal and human portraiture in fine and wide cut, finishing techniques and color theory.
We carry rug hooking supplies and patterns, kits, colorful hand-dyed wool, fine shading value swatches, linen and Cushing acid dyes.
Weekly hook-ins are held Monday evenings
6-9, all day Wednesday and Saturdays from
9-5, and a once a month All Day hook-in held on the third Sunday of each month from 9-5.
Our beginner hand-hooked project is a 8" X 8" hot mat named "Fall Colors" to get you started!
All you need to complete this project from start to finish is included in your kit, including pattern, wools, cotton tape, hook and use of studio frame. Cost:$35.00.
Beginner rug hooking instruction is available
on Saturdays or Monday evenings by appointment.
